Oracle to fight block on PeopleSoft bid

SOFTWARE giant Oracle, headed by the flamboyant entrepreneur Larry Ellison, is expected to challenge US antitrust authorities over their opposition to its proposed $9.4bn (£5.1bn) takeover of archrival PeopleSoft.

The Department of Justice has said it will act to block Oracle's hostile bid. Analysts say a negotiated settlement is unlikely.
