Mystery of bus tour to home town

Two women booked a mystery holiday - only to discover the destination was their home town.

Friends Dee White, 54, and Gloria Poole, 62, paid £59 each for the coach trip, thinking it would go to Scotland or Wales.

But they were stunned to learn their three-night break was at the Savoy Hotel in Bournemouth, where they live. The itinerary also said they had to travel 80 miles to Reading to meet the coach.

Mrs Poole and Miss White complained to coach company Wallace Arnold. Miss White, a nurse, said: "It is ridiculous. Nobody in their right mind would want to go on holiday in their home town."

A customer relations manager at the firm said the women would be offered an alternative trip to Llandudno.
