Mother buries four children

Graham Keeley12 April 2012

The mother of four children who were burned to death by their father today praised God for the children that were taken away from her.

Chantelle Mubiangata, 34, laid to rest her two sons and two daughters at a service of remembrance in Hackney, east London.

Choking back tears she said: "I just give thanks to God who gave them and took them away from me."

Estranged husband Claud Mubiangata, 38, killed his two daughters, Alpha, 12, Cindy, nine, and two sons, Chriony, seven, and Aaron, three, by setting fire to a silver Nissan Primera, then killed himself. The tragedy happened three-and-a-half weeks ago, after Mr Mubiangata collected the children from their mother's home for what was meant to be a trip to see the film Scooby Doo.

But instead of going to the cinema, the youngsters were taken to an industrial estate in Canning Town, where their father burned them alive before setting himself alight.

Claud Mubiangata was this afternoon being buried alongside the four children he killed at a private service in Manor Park, east London.
