Mother admits killing baby

A mother admitted killing her three-week-old baby when she appeared at the Old Bailey today.
Cheryl Green, 40, from Peckham, south London, was remanded for pre-sentence reports and bailed on condition she resides in a psychiatric unit.
She denied murdering her son, Nicol, on April 22 last year but admitted his manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility. Her plea was accepted by the prosecution.
It is understood that Nicol, who was born prematurely, was found burning in an oven.
Judge Christopher Moss told Green: "I cannot decide today what order to make. I need more help from doctors and other professionals who will suggest to me what the court should do with your case."
