Martine quits My Fair Lady

Richard Simpson12 April 2012

Martine McCutcheon is to quit My Fair Lady when her contract expires next spring.

The 25-year-old actress said today that she only ever intended to play the lead role of Eliza Doolittle for one year.

However, after leaving the show she will be out of work with sources saying she has "nothing planned" and "no concrete offers".

A friend of McCutcheon's added today: "There is nothing definite for her to do after April - nothing is set in stone.

She is said to be considering a number of options, but is yet to be offered anything concrete."

McCutcheon's stage run has been plagued by illness since she began. She missed the opening performance in March after being struck down with flu, later performing to rave reviews but succumbing to a throat infection, sinusitis and blood-clotting.
