King's in no rush for first team return

Ledley King: on the road to recovery
Simon Johnson12 April 2012

Ledley King today admitted he won't be rushing his return to Tottenham's first team after playing in his first game for six months in the reserves.

King, who had knee surgery in the summer, last night played the first 45 minutes of the club's 1-0 defeat to Fulham before being substituted at half-time.

The England international was delighted to come through his first game unscathed even though he knows he still has a lot of work to do before playing in the Premier League.

He said: "I am now just thinking about trying to get as many minutes under my belt as I can before trying to get back into the first team squad.

"I've had to be most careful with this injury and I had to make sure I was right before coming back so that I don't have any more problems. I feel I have done that and hopefully I will get the rewards from it."
