Kelly Osbourne in rehab

Kelly has been hiding her drug addiction from her famous family

Kelly Osbourne has entered rehab for abuse of painkillers - making her the third member of her famous family to battle drug addiction.

The 19-year-old singer and Reality TV star was confronted by her parents Ozzy and Sharon on Friday, after a tabloid newspaper tipped them off about photographs which appeared to show Kelly buying drugs.

On CNN show Larry King Live, the Osbournes candidly admitted confronting their daughter only hours before.

"She admitted it after a lot of twisting. Literally, a couple of hours ago, she was admitted to rehab," said Sharon.

Husband Ozzy, who has famously battled alcohol and drug abuse for many years, said he had repeatedly asked his youngest daughter whether she was abusing painkillers.

"I can't believe we were buying into it," he said. "The amount of pills I found in her bag was astounding."

Kelly's younger brother Jack - who himself was admitted to rehab last year following addiction to prescription drug Oxycontin - drove Kelly to the Promises Drug & Alcohol Rehabilitation Addiction Center in Malibu, California.

Sharon, who admitted she felt a 'failure' as a mother, added, "As usual with the Osbournes, you never know what's going to happen next."

After hitting new fame in recent years with their fly-on-the-wall reality show, the Osbournes have encountered many family traumas. Two years ago, Sharon was diagnosed with colon cancer, and Ozzy is still recovering from injuries sustained in an accident with a quad bike last December, which left him in a coma for eight days.
