Jarvis puts a freeze on bonuses

12 April 2012

THE maintenance company at the centre of the fatal Potters Bar rail crash said today it would not pay any bonuses to directors or staff until the cause of the disaster is known.

However, Jarvis said the £250,000 paid in bonuses to its two top executives for the year to 31 March would stand.

Police have said poor maintenance of the points on the Potters Bar line caused the accident on 10 May in which seven people died.

News of the payments to Jarvis chief executive Paris Moayedi and chief operating officer Kevin Hyde, who reaped salaries of £600,000 and £352,000 respectively for the past year, sparked outrage.

Jarvis tried to hose down some of the hostility today by saying no further bonuses would be paid 'until we are absolutely clear as to what happened and where responsibilities lie.'
