I'm broke, Charlotte's boyfriend tells court

Charlotte Church's boyfriend, who has just returned from a holiday said to have cost £10,000, today told a court he has only £20 a week in disposable income.

Kyle Johnson went to the Maldives and Dubai with the millionaire singer. But Cardif f magistrates, who today convicted him of driving offences and fined him £200 plus costs, heard that the 19-year-old earned only £80 a week.

He agreed to pay £10 a week for eight months.

The part-time trainee hotel manager, who lives in a £300,000 flat in Cardiff with Church, 18, was found guilty of driving without insurance and failing to produce a licence at a hearing in his absence in August.

Police stopped Johnson, who has not passed his driving test, as he drove his friend's car in Cardiff in January. He was today disqualified from driving for two months.

Mike Jones, defending, said Johnson was "being trained towards a further position at the hotel" which would mean he would need to be mobile.

When singer Church reached 18 earlier this year she announced that she would not be touching her trust fund, estimated at £5.5 million - but her lifestyle appears to show that she is dipping deep into it.
