Hospital trust saves £1.5m on heating

A London hospital trust has cut its annual gas and electricity bills by £1.5 million — just by changing its boiler.

The new energy efficient system has also helped Guy's and St Thomas' reduce its carbon dioxide emissions by more than 11,000 tonnes a year — equivalent to taking 3,500 cars off the road.

The Department of Health's Energy and Sustainability Fund granted the trust £10 million to install the new system.
