Greenspan confident about recovery

ALAN GREENSPAN, chairman of America's central bank, the Federal Reserve, has signalled he is cautiously optimistic about a US economic recovery. He told Congresson Wednesday night: 'Increasing signs have emerged that some of the forces that have been restraining the economy over the past year are starting to diminish.'

But he warned that the speed of the anticipated recovery was likely to be moderate.
