Free Bollywood dance lessons to teach Cheetah Girls moves

Movie: The Cheetah Girls One World

CHILDREN are to get the chance to learn Bollywood dancing.

Ealing-based Actor Prepares, which teaches Bollywood acting and dance techniques, and Disney Channel will offer free lessons to coincide with a new film, The Cheetah Girls One World.

Film star Anupam Kher, who appeared in Bend It Like Beckham and is chairman of the school, said the dancing was great for boys and girls.

"Not only will they enjoy the larger-than-life aspect of Bollywood dancing, but it will give them discipline." Rakhi Sood, the choreographer who will run the Saturday workshops, said interest in Indian film now stretched across communities in Britain. "It brings everybody together," she added.

Children aged seven to 14 will learn the basics of the form, culminating in a dance routine from the movie, which has its premiere on the Disney Channel on 30 January.

Greenford High School in Southall already has pupils signed up. Other interested children can be registered at thecheetahgirlsoneworld@disney.co.uk. Workshops will run until at least the end of March.
