Digital is sweet music for EMI

MUSIC giant EMI, home to artists including Pink, Kylie Minogue and Norah Jones, will forecast benefits from growth in the legal music downloads from the internet.

The sales channel has been boosted by the recent launch of Apple's iTunes in the UK, investors will hear at EMI's annual meeting on Tuesday.

Though digital accounts for only £15m of EMI's £2.1bn revenues for the year to 31 March, it is growing rapidly.

EMI reckons a quarter of all music sales will be digital in five years.
