Darts and Ballet come together in a new piece for Flight Club

Rikki-Lee Bevan15 April 2017

Ballet and darts aren’t obvious companions; however they become just that when Flight Club partners with The London Ballet Company to present Darts: The Ballet.

The ballet, choreographed by Fran Mangiacasale, tells the heart-breaking story of two darts from rival trios who fall in love. They witness a betrayal from one of their own which results in jealousy, violence and murder, building up to an emotionally-charged and tragic end.

Performances will be held at the Flight Club’s new Bloomsbury venue and will be surrounded by a Victoriana-themed backdrop.

The dancers themselves will have to channel the emotion of a dart, a challenge they are more than ready for, according to The London Ballet Company’s Director, Sophie Wright.

She said: “Our dancers love a new challenge, and channelling the emotion of being a dart in love required them to metamorphose into a dart internally. Both ballet and darts come from a historically and culturally rich heritage, and in actual fact, merging them seemed intuitive – I can’t believe this is the first time the two have met.”

Darts: The Ballet opens on April 19th.
