Chivalry still alive for British women

Nine out of 10 women expect a man to hold the door open for them - but only 22 per cent are happy for a man to pay for dinner, a survey reveals today.

The Future Foundation also found that of the 1,000 people it interviewed, the vast majority thought it was "ridiculous" for a man to stand up when a woman entered the room. Most people want manners to be taken more seriously but are in favour of relaxing formality.
