Carphone plans fixed-mobile link

CARPHONE Warehouse is to offer a single-number service that will provide fixed and mobile calls on one handset with a single bill, The Business reports.
The technology uses a short-radius, wi-fi netweork at home to connect to the fixed-line netowrk.
Chairman Hans Snook, former chief executive of mobile operator Orange, revealed to The Business that it will take about a year to develop the technology to dovetail fixed and mobile networks.
