Brylcreem boost for housemate Alex

12 April 2012

Big Brother's Alex is poised to become the face of Brylcreem after the hair firm decided he was a cut above the other housemates.

Brylcreem bosses plan to offer the model a lucrative deal which will see him follow in the footsteps of their last signing, David Beckham.

The Manchester United and England star was paid a reported £4 million to promote the brand.

Alex's fellow housemate Tim might seem the more obvious choice for Brylcreem, given the hours he spends in front of the mirror perfecting his bouffant hairdo.

But the firm said they preferred Alex because he managed to look good without putting in so much effort.

"Alex has shown that you don't have to spend hours in front of the mirror like Tim to get a good hair style.

"With some know-how and relatively little effort he has achieved a cool hair style that gets women interested," said Brylcreem marketing director Julie Baker.

"Even the other housemates, who hardly ever have a good word to say about each other, have commented favourably on Alex's crop."

Brylcreem launch a new range in August and think Alex would be the perfect person to front the campaign.

The company has already approached the producers of the hit Channel 4 show and want to start talks with the Essex boy as soon as he leaves the house - which could be sooner rather than later.

The 23-year-old is up for eviction on Friday along with Tim, who is the bookies' favourite to get voted out.

But yesterday Alex threatened to walk out because he couldn't stand the thought of staying in the house with Jade, Kate and Jonny if Tim went.

He told Tim: "I hate it in here. I'm fed up and I want to go out the back door. I can't sit here with these people any more. I just want to go."

Tim, 23, from Worcester, also said he may leave of his own accord, telling Alex: "If I don't go I'm going to walk out anyway."

Kate is now favourite to win the £70,000 prize in the final show next week. Jonny is second favourite and Alex in third place.

But Jade is now closing in after a flurry of bets led bookmakers William Hill to slash her odds from 14-1 to 7-1. Tim is the 100/1 outsider.
