Boris Johnson escapes censure over job for 'ex-lover'

Boris blues; the Mayor was criticised over Helen Macintyre's job

Boris Johnson has escaped censure in an official investigation into his appointment of his alleged ex-lover as an art consultant.

He was accused of failing to declare he knew Helen Macintyre when he appointed her as a fundraiser for the Olympic Park sculpture.

The Mayor allegedly also failed to declare he knew her boyfriend at the time, property tycoon Pierre Rolin, who donated £80,000 to the £20million project.

But the Greater London Authority's standards committee ruled the Mayor had only committed a minor breach of the code of conduct. It decided his failure to disclose formally the relationships was an "oversight" that required no further action.
