Accountant presses Beijing on debts

ERNST & Young has urged China to open its bad-debt market further to foreign investors to help State banks clean up their balance sheets in time for share listings.

The suggestion coincided with the release of its 2004 global non-performing loan report. Beijing has told banks to step up disposal of bad debt.
