14-month-old girl killed by falling patio door
A police investigation is under way after a 14-month-old girl died when a patio door fell on top of her.
Charlotte Kirkup was fatally injured at her home in Langley Moor in County Durham.
A spokesman, who described Charlotte's family as 'distraught', said she was taken by ambulance to the University Hospital of North Durham where she was pronounced dead.
The police investigation will look into how the door came free and toppled on to Charlotte.

The patio door worked by pulling down a handle and then sliding it to the side on runners. It is believed the door had been in working order when the accident happened.
