11 million watch I'm a Celebrity opener

13 April 2012

Nearly 11 million viewers tuned in to the first episode of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! last night.

It was the biggest opening yet for the reality show, 200,000 up on the second series and almost four million up on the first.

An audience of 10.9 million watched glamour girl Jordan brave spiders, snakes and creepy-crawlies in the first Bushtucker Trial.

The episode averaged 10.1 million for ITV1, trouncing BBC1 drama Judge John Deed which pulled in 6.2 million.

Jordan and fellow contestant Neil "Razor" Ruddock successfully completed their challenge, winning 10 meals for the group.

Stick insects, cockroaches, a snake, beetles and huntsman spiders were poured into Jordan's see-through helmet, while Ruddock got meal worms, giant cockroaches, crickets, an eel and tent spiders.

The glamour model squirmed as the creepy-crawlies fell down her 34FF front.
Afterwards she took a dip in a pond - stripping down to a black bra and minuscule pink thong.

Following the first episode, bookmakers made Jordan favourite to win the show.
Ladbrokes slashed her odds from 7-1 fourth favourite to 3-1 joint favourite with former footballer Ruddock.

Spokesman Warren Lush said: "Punters can't get enough of Jordan, they are piling in to back her. At this rate she could be a strong favourite to win within days."

Sex Pistol John Lydon is up for tonight's challenge after he was nominated in the first public vote.

He must face a group of 6ft tall, 300lb ostriches to win meals for the rest of the group.
