They may be moving into Frogmore Cottage in Windsor later this year, but the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s current country retreat has already seen plenty of A-list action.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took a two-year lease on the £2.5 million farmhouse in the Cotswolds before their wedding in May last year and have hosted a wealth of their A-list friends at the four-bedroom cottage.

Newlyweds Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, George and Amal Clooney and Serena Williams and her husband Alexis Ohanian are among the guests who are understood to have visited the cottage, hidden away in the Oxfordshire countryside.

The 18th-century house is on four acres of private land on the 4,000 acre Great Tew Estate, where the Beckhams’ country house and Meghan’s favourite haunt, Soho Farmhouse, are also located.

The estate is owned by millionaire landowner Nicholas Johnston.

Renovation work on the cottage was completed in 2011.

There’s now a large dining room and outdoor seating area with patio heaters, making it ideal for informal entertaining. As a luxurious touch, one of the four bedrooms has been converted into a dressing room.

A barn conversion attached to the house provides extra space with floor-to-ceiling windows providing natural daylight and there’s a two-bedroom cottage, which can be used for staff or guests.

According to the Sun, a friend of the couple said: “It’s a fabulous place with stunning views and extraordinarily private.

“It’s set in a small bowl of beautiful countryside so is not overlooked in any way.”

Harry and Meghan, who are preparing to welcome their first child this spring, are understood to regard the cottage as more of a home than their current quarters at Nottingham Cottage in Kensington Palace.

It’s expected that they will keep the lease on the house even after they've moved into Frogmore Cottage later this year.
