The glamorous Romanesque Twenties villa in Hamburg that belonged to fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld is for sale.

Lagerfeld lived there in the Nineties and named it Villa Jako after his late partner Jacques de Bascher.

In the German city’s swish Blankenese district, the three-bedroom home with exotic interiors, grand façade and multiple columns is an ornate masterpiece, featuring turquoise silk-lined walls and elaborate plasterwork.

Lagerfeld, now 84, powerhouse behind Chanel and Fendi, parted ways with the house in 1998 to live in Paris but the current owner has retained most of its extravagant features, including the gold leaf-painted ceilings.

It’s listed with Engel & Völkers at £7.6 million.
