Wembley Park is set to transform itself into a new al fresco dining hub by more than doubling the amount of outdoor seating outside its restaurants and cafes.

The likes of Bread Ahead, Pasta Remoli, Black Sheep Coffee and the numerous street food outlets inside Boxpark Wembley will be able to serve more socially distanced diners this summer, all in the shadow of Wembley Stadium’s famous arch.

Plans to add more seating to both Olympic Way – the pedestrianised stretch that runs from Wembley Park underground station to the stadium – and Wembley Park Boulevard have been approved by Brent Council, and will be implemented from July 4.

“To be able to reopen our Wembley Park bakery and baking school is a significant milestone for us,” said Matthew Jones of Bread Ahead, which will now be able to safely seat up to 80 customers.

“Wembley Park’s dynamism in helping us to adapt, alongside the support from our passionate and dedicated team, has enabled us to quickly and efficiently plan for a safe reopening.”

The council will also introduce new signposted walking routes around the area, and will be planting 48 more pairs of trees along the walkways.

The park has also said that it would put into action a programme of public art and live music curated by its culture director Josh McNorton.

Wembley Park is just one of the areas looking to increase its outdoor seating in a bid to help struggling hospitality businesses serve as many customers as possible within the social distancing guidelines.

Last week, Westminster Council announced an extensive plan of road closures and extended seating areas all across the West End.
