London brunch breakdown: PizzaBuzz

It's a simple enough idea: lots of pizza and unlimited prosecco. What's not to like? asks David Ellis
Weekend favourite: Pizzabuzz offers a relaxed brunch spot for the weekend

What's on the menu? It shouldn’t come as an overwhelming shock that this place is all about pizza.

It’s near enough a fast-food restaurant, but don’t expect sticky dough and oily toppings: brunch starts with a trip to their terrazzo bar where you can either choose from one of their homemade recipes which change regularly or do your own thing and decide on everything individually, from bases to finishing touches.

Dough bases are kept light with a spelt-blended flour and the ingredients are all fresh. There are enough different toppings to keep things interesting: we particularly liked the veal meatballs, merguez sausage, and roasted garlic. But there's always the temptation to go rogue...

It’s all served up with bottomless prosecco – and trust us, they’re commendably generous with it. While it’s undoubtedly a limited menu (despite plenty of different toppings), you don’t come for a broad brunch offering, you come to gorge on pizza and prosecco. And why the hell not?

Hot topping: a pizza with veal meatballs

If you really fancy something else, go for the ice-cream on offer, too. They do a solid pistachio.

Where is it? Head Shoreditch way to the Alphabeta Building on Worship Street.

Who's behind it? PizzaBuzz is a bit of departure for Barnaby Meredith. He’s the managing director of The Meredith Group, who run gastropubs including Marylebone’s The Portman and The Only Running Footman in Mayfair.
