Five things Fay Maschler ate this week

Our restaurant critic enjoys a healthy breakfast at Grayshott Spa and a taste of Greece
20 November 2013

1. Grissini wrapped in lardo with wild mushroom cream at The Remedy in Cleveland Street, opened by David Clawson and Renato Catgui. Having met at Terroirs, they’re committed to unadulterated wines.

2. During the transformative seven-day Health Regime at Grayshott Spa, a breakfast of Ful Mesdames (haricot beans, lentils, cumin, garlic, olive oil) with two poached eggs.

3. Shopping on Tottenham Court Road edified by sourdough pizza margherita from Franco Manca, which happily has just set up shop there.

4. At home, loukanika horiatiki (country sausage) bought at the charming Greek deli/café Life Goddess in Store Street, with forceful sautéed Datterini tomatoes.

5. After The Counsellor — a car crash of a movie — it was a huge relief to see smiling Edwin, manager at Mr Kong in Lisle Street, and eat wholesome, velvety steamed chicken with seasonal greens.
