Fay Maschler's week in food, from Bibendum to Madame Pigg

Delectable: Saucisson aux pistaches en brioche from Claude Bosi at Bibendum
Fay Maschler17 July 2019

At an in-restaurant showing of Ed Picard’s film Chef Adam, starring Adam Hardiman of Madame Pigg in Dalston, that cheeky chap for whom I have developed maternal pride serves bountiful seafood salad.

Lunchtime is calmer, the better for appreciating Tania Steytler’s cooking at her residency Jeow Jeow in Soho’s Sun & 13 Cantons inspired by travels along the Mekong. Fried Dorset trout with sugared chilli dressing is ace.

Fortunate in having Kay Plunkett-Hogge, author of the recent Baan: Recipes and Stories from My Thai Home, ordering at Hammersmith’s 101 Thai Kitchen, I particularly relish No. 80, prawn with sator seeds.

Celebrating Bastille Day at Bibendum, Claude Bosi serves up his Lyonnais heritage in delectable ways including saucisson aux pistaches en brioche, with a punchy jus.

Salt Yard in Goodge Street sweetly serves particularly fine jamón Iberico de Bellota.
