Fay Maschler's week in food, from The Wolseley to Brat

Meaty mash-up: MEATmission has teamed up with José Pizarro to create an Iberico pork burger
Fay Maschler13 March 2019

After a preview of the saucy Renaissance Nude at the Royal Academy, supper at The Wolseley including sprauncy salad of heritage carrots, Puy lentils and hazelnuts.

When Elkano from Getaria comes to Brat in Shoreditch, much fun and fine food, including slinky, inky squid casserole, is had. A necessary uplift after a performance of gruelling Cyprus Avenue at the Royal Court.

Cutting Room in Charlotte Street has opened on the site of Bobo Social (same owner). It’s for “sharers”. David Ellis and I share mushroom and truffle sliders.

A gathering at MEATmission to taste the José Pizarro Iberico pork burger, crowned with garlic aioli, grilled onion, cured Manchego cheese and pimentón. Irresistible. Available all sites from March 18.

At Pentolina in Brook Green — an Italian restaurant discovery, thanks to books and manuscripts expert Jamie Fergusson — we try truly Tuscan coniglio (rabbit) in umido (juices).
