Don Hewitson's cellar wine bar has stuck to its guns for a number of decades now. A good wine list, combined with sound enough food, explains its lasting appeal.

Vinoteca's lengthy wine list includes all manner of rare and interesting wines from all over the world. Food comes in small dishes and provides a perfect foil for a gluggable bottle.

Stoney Street, Borough Market SE1
The Wharf has a long and impressive wine list which is admirably broadly based covering old and new world stalwarts. The food side of things is more practical than gastronomic.
