Now that coconut water has become a billion dollar industry, the craze for uber healthy H20 has us all searching for the next thirst-quencher to rival its empire.

But the latest artisan water trend doesn’t involve ingesting lumps of charcoal or tapping the sap from a tree.

Cold-pressed watermelon juice has emerged as a new health craze for summer, thanks to major backing by Beyonce.

The pop superstar has just bought a stake in American water brand WTRMLN WTR, after deciding that it was “the future of clean, natural hydration.”

Converts to the watermelon trend claim that the trendy water packs in the vitamin C, lycopene, potassium, and amino acids naturally found in watermelon, all in one portable container.

It’s also said to aid in digestion, athletic performance, and muscle recovery.

Now a 32-year-old entrepreneur from Notting Hill is hoping to bring the trend over to the UK.

Oliver Bolton’s water firm What A Melon picked up the £50,000 Crowdfunder Award at the Virgin Media Business VOOM, after he raised more than £60,884 for his new drinks business.

The Londoner says that he is confident the watermelon drink has what it takes to become a much-loved brand and intends to make good use of the £110,000 in extra funds he’s been granted by the initiative.

He says: “Unlike many health waters What A Melon tastes good to most palates. It has the same potassium as coconut water but is more nutritious. VOOM 2016 has been a fantastic way to publicise the brand and the cash will help us capitalise on this with marketing.”

So whether you're looking to improve your health or simply on a mission to stay ahead of the artisan water trend, this is one thirst-quencher you'll probably want to know about.

Get ready to see plenty of bottles of the stuff in the well-toned arms of London’s fit brigade over the coming months.
