Nuno Mendes's chef's table

Victoria Stewart18 April 2012

Nuno Mendes, head chef at Viajante and founder of The Loft Project, tells us why he likes eating at Rochelle Canteen.

Where would you pay money to eat? Rochelle Canteen. My time is limited so I don’t get to go out for lunch as much as I’d like, but I try to go when I can. (Rochelle School, Arnold Circus, E2. 020 7729 5677, arnoldandhenderson.com)

Why? It’s local to me in east London and set in an old bike shed in a Victorian school grounds; the menu changes daily and the dishes are fresh and simple.

Who would you take? My partner Clarise and my baby daughter.

What do you eat there? Pork belly & purple sprouting broccoli
