What do dark chocolate, beer and grapefruit have in common? They all have elements of bitter in them. While we have a natural aversion to bitter, it can actually stimulate our appetite, improve digestion and add flavour to food.

Australian born, Canadian based chef Jennifer McLagan redresses the balance in her latest book Bitter.

The author of award-winning books Bones, Fat and Odd Bits – her latest subject may be the most enlightening. She is set to fly into London for a special evening on Wednesday, May 13 highlighting how bitter ingredients can add a new dimension to cooking.

The event takes place at Divertimenti Knightsbridge with tickets costing £6 for general admission or £26 with a signed copy of the book.

A glass of wine will be offered on arrival and there is a 10% shopping discount on the night.
