Quaint boozer with olde worlde charm

Quaint: The Lamb on Lamb's Conduit Street
10 April 2012

A genial old boozer with lots of Victorian charm - and that's just the locals.

This excellent pub has been one of the better ones for a long, long time and continues to maintain its very high standards.

The beer's good, as it's a Young's pub, and the food's pretty decent, too. It's got some quaint Victorian fixtures and fittings, without it being too olde worlde, and it gets the balance just right.

The clientele are the genial pub-going type and even the drunks are polite and apologetic - they seem to operate a shift system to make sure there's always one in the pub.

The Lamb is in an easy-to-get-to location, but just far enough from the tourist trails to deter all but the determined and appreciative.

There's also an excellent upstairs function room for a nominal fee if you need that kind of thing.
