Chasing Tail at Foxlow

Hair of the dog takes on a whole new meaning when you brunch at Foxlow, the Clerkenwell brother of meat behemoth Hawksmoor. Avoid having to choose between a coffee and a cocktail by ordering a Chasing Tail: a cobweb-blowing combination of vodka, coffee beans and orange vermouth. Drink with the All Day Breakfast Burger and all will be right with the world again.

Find it: 69-73 St John Street, EC1M 4AN; foxlow.co.uk

Tequila Mockingbird at Holborn Grind

The Grind guys know their coffee so it's not surprising that their cafe-cum-cocktail bar at the new Hoxton Hotel in Holborn has a list of coffee cocktails. The menu offers an espresso martini, but you can get one of those anywhere, so order a Tequila Mockingbird instead: a heady mix of HG's house espresso, tequila, triple sec and sugar syrup. Rocket fuel for the night ahead.

Find it: 199 High Holborn, WC1V 7BD; holborngrind.com

Salted caramel espresso martini at Ivy Market Grill

The new offshoot from London's famous Ivy restaurant in Covent Garden has married together two things Londoners love to great effect: salted caramel and espresso martini. Nuff said.

Find it: 1 Henrietta Street, WC2E 8PS; theivymarketgrill.com

Ristretto negroni at Duck & Waffle

Coffee negronis might just be a new trend for 2015 — you read it here first. It's 4am, you've partied hard and you need a stamina booster. Step forward head bartender Rich Woods's new sky-high offering, the Ristretto negroni: gin, sweet vermouth, Amaro all slow dripped through coffee beans roasted for 24 hours. It'll knock ya socks off.

Find it: Heron Tower, 110 Bishopsgate, EC2N 4AY; duckandwaffle.com

Quaglino's Mexican Express

Mexican Express at Quaglino's

This revamped night spot didn't go down too well with our critic for the food, but it's still a fun place to have a couple of four until the wee hours - you might even spot a celeb or too. Get staying power with its take on the espresso martini, a lethal mix of Patron XO coffee and Patron Silver shaken with fresh espresso and sugar syrup.
