Evening Standard to explore the world’s best rums at new Speakeasy tasting

Whether you’re sailing the stormy seas or kicking back on decidedly drier land, rum fans know that there’s a fair few rays of sunshine to be found in those amber bottles.

The Evening Standard will be exploring the some of the world’s best rums in an event at a secret London location next month, in the second instalment of its Speakeasy series.

In a three-and-a-half hour immersive experience on April 10, guests will taste a variety of premium rums, engage in masterclasses, learn about the history and production of rum, and take part in a Q&A with industry experts

The evening will kick off with a welcome drink on arrival, followed by an introduction from Evening Standard drinks columnist Douglas Blyde. The night will also feature food paired to the rums and themed live music, with guests departing the night with a gift to take away.

The Speakeasy series, which began last month with a session exploring American whiskey, takes on a different spirit in each themed, expert-led event, with upcoming nights exploring gin and tequila.

In Speakeasy style, the location of the venue will be kept secret until shortly before the night. Tickets for the Speakeasy are priced at £70.99 per person, £130 for two tickets or £535 for a group booking of ten people.
