Wild swimming, concerts and film screenings are among the riverside events in a festival celebrating the Thames.

Totally Thames, which kicks off on September 1, will last a month and feature a swim around an island in Chiswick.

Artists will explore life on the river through time spent in the wheelhouses of boats, barges and tugs.

Meanwhile composer Iain Chambers returns with the Bascule Chamber Concerts inside Tower Bridge, to celebrate the 300th Anniversary of Handel’s Water Music.

Clarinettist Kate Romano, spoken word artist Kayo Chingonyi and award-winning singer Coco Mbassi are also part of the concerts’ line-up.

Mayor Sadiq Khan showed his support for the festival, saying: “This celebrates one of our city’s major assets, bringing its history to life through a fantastic variety of free activities.

“From learning about environmental issues facing the river to hearing about those who live on it, there’s something for everyone to get involved in.”

The month of events is being put on by Thames Festival Trust.
