London's Irish community are getting their pride on this weekend, with a series of spectacular events celebrating St Patrick's Day on Sunday March 17.

The biggest of them all will see thousands celebrate Ireland’s patron saint with a parade through the capital, culminating in a huge party in Trafalgar Square.

Official celebrations marking the day have taken place in London since 2001, with thousands transforming the streets of London in 2018. It’s always one of the biggest parties of the year, and mayor Sadiq Khan will be on hand to address revellers this Sunday.

It’s a chance for people from all over the city to come together, enjoy a pint or two, and enjoy a fantastic atmosphere in the heart of the capital.

Here’s everything you need to know about 2019's St Patrick’s Day parade.

Parade route and times

The first floats will set off at midday on Sunday. The 1.5 mile route will start at Hyde Park Corner, before journeying through Piccadilly and finishing at Trafalgar Square, where revellers will carry on the celebrations.

Attendees can expect lavishly decorated floats, marching bands and plenty of pomp and circumstance at this year’s parade. A host of clubs, groups and Irish dancing schools from all over Ireland and the UK will take part in the festivities, which promises to be a must-see this St Patrick’s Day.
