One of Jack the Ripper’s victims has been brought back to life in a ghostly exhibit as part of a new crime museum.

Catherine Eddowes, murdered by the killer in 1888, will speak to visitors to the City of London Police Museum from beyond the grave via a hologram.

The new museum, which is free and opens at Guildhall on Monday week, tells the story of the force responsible for policing the Square Mile since 1839.

Sara Pink, head of the City of London Corporation’s Guildhall Library, said they wanted to tell a “different” side of the story of the mysterious killer who terrified 19th-century London.

The exhibit, featuring a student from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama playing Catherine, is based on the force’s archive which includes details of her arrest by City officers the night before she was killed.

Ms Pink said: “When we looked through the original documents in the City of London Police force we could see what she looked like, what she was wearing, what she was saying to the officers. So we’ve been able to recreate Catherine within the Square Mile up until those final moments when the Ripper found her.”
