After Chris Evans was officially announced as one of the new Top Gear hosts, rumours have gathered about who might join him.

Now it appears that the full line-up is not yet locked down – and you could end up being one of the new presenters. A Top Gear talent search has begun, with fans of the show offered the chance to send in a 30-second video of themselves by way of an initial audition.

However, within that short amount of time those hoping to bag a hosting job must portray their enthusiasm for the show - without using cars.

A statement on the website says: “Your audition tape should feature no gimmicks, no stunts, and – most importantly – no cars, please. Just you, and you alone to camera, being enthusiastic and car-obsessed and, well...TG-ish.”

As well as a new host, it is hoped that the search may also uncover talented individuals who can assist in other areas of the show.

Chris Evans explains what he is looking for: “"You could be auditioning to be a driver, you could be Stig, who knows? You could be auditioning to be a film reporter. You could be a co-host. If there's nobody right for this from the videos, we will not be appointing anyone. This is not a gimmick. This is real.

"Male, female, old, young, it doesn't matter. The one thing that does matter is that you've got to have a real appetite for cars, and you've got to know something about cars.

"You can be a mechanic, you can be an amateur racing car driver, you can be a guy who's a fireman but who's been building his own Land Rover in his shed for five years, but you've got to know about cars..."

Applicants must be 17 or over, and are required to send their clip before July 20. To find out more and to apply, find more information here.
