For many it was the Valentine’s Day treat that they never knew they wanted – Tom Hardy reading a bedtime story on CBeebies.

The British actor got hearts all a-flutter with his recital of Tom McLaughlin’s children’s book The Cloudspotter.

The three-minute episode of Cbeebies Bedtime Stories aired just before 7pm on the kids’ channel, and saw Hardy joined by his beloved yellow Labrador Woody.

It’s fair to say that it wasn’t just children who were tuning in – and some viewers were a bit overwhelmed at the hunky A-list actor’s recital.

Even better, he teased future instalments on the show at the end of the episode – all while telling viewers to ‘get tucked up’.

“I’ve spotted you’re not in bed yet,” he said. “Quick, go on. Get yourself tucked up, and I’ll see you very soon for another Bedtime Story.”

Some people felt a lot of intense feelings about it all

It wasn’t just humans who were invested

Some found it difficult not to associate Hardy with his other current BBC show – the brutal Saturday night period drama Taboo

And some were devastated to have missed it

Well, don’t worry people – the episode is now on iPlayer.

Tom Hardy devotees can stream the short story as much as they like for the next 29 days, absolutely judgement-free – perhaps as a bit of light relief after another dark and intense instalment of Taboo.
