Louisa Johnson and Reggie N Bollie will battle it out in the grand finale of the X Factor after Che Chesterman was voted off by the public in the penultimate live show of the series.

Simon Cowell had been less than impressed with Che’s rendition of ‘Valerie’, telling him that he looked “like a bag of nerves” throughout.

Later, though, Rod Stewart – with whom Che duetted on a version of ‘The First Cut Is The Deepest’ – reassured him that he was “killing it” and that he was “a winner”, but it wasn’t enough to save him.

Louisa Johnson, 17, had stunned the judges earlier on with a performance of ‘I Believe I Can Fly’ which Nick Grimshaw called “astonishing”, and which moved Simon Cowell to declare: “An angel has just come to Wembley and sang the roof off.”

Louisa’s duet of ‘And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going’ with her mentor Rita Ora helped to cement her place in the final.

Reggie and Bollie teamed up with Craig David and Fuse ODG for a mash-up duet of the former’s hit ‘Rewind’ and the latter’s ‘Dangerous Love’.

David confessed that he had been impressed with the Ghanaian duo, telling them: “You’ve brought something very special to this show – Cheryl, you’ve found some real talent here.”

Earlier on, Reggie and Bollie had performed a mash-up of ‘Spice Up Your Life’ and the Outhere Brothers’ ‘Boom Boom Boom’ which Cowell likened to drinking “a strawberry and liver milkshake”.

Ora was more forthright in her criticism though, telling the duo: “I have to just give you some reality. That was a bit cruise ship for me. It was like a shouting competition.”

The X Factor concludes on Sunday evening on ITV.
