Jason Jones, Michelle John and Tanya Lacey have made it through to the quarter finals of The Voice.

The three acts were the latest to win their places in the next round of the ITV competition in will.i.am’s category during Saturday night’s live knockout round.

Jason and Michelle were saved by the public vote. The singers impressed the judges with their renditions of Into You and I Can’t Make You Love Me respectively.

Will.i.am then had the difficult decision of picking his third and final contestant.

The show was nearly cut off air as he struggled to pick a contestant as host Emma Willis nudged him for an answer.

“Everyone on that stage really did an amazing job by singing their heart and souls out and being individuals and taking songs people are familiar with and making them their own,” he said.

“Who I pick doesn’t mean that the folks that go home we don’t figure out how we work together. For the show and who I think will be great for the final and nothing about how I think you’ll move forward...”

After a long pause he shouted: “Wait, I’m going to let Jennifer pick!”

After being chased by Willis he said: “This is the hardest decision ever.”

Finally he shouted “Tanya” but everyone failed to hear him. The music stopped before he shouted: “It’s going to be Tanya.”

Tanya – who sang Changing by Sigma and Paloma Faith – said she “didn’t know what happened”.

Michelle thanked everyone for voting while Jason said he had been left “speechless”.

Jamie Miller, Mo Adeniran and Jack Bruley went through in Jennifer Hudson’s category last week which also saw Sir Tom Jones take through Craig Ward, Into The Ark and Nadine McGhee.

Gavin Rossdale will choose his final three on Sunday night.

The Voice is on ITV tomorrow night at 7:45pm.
