Stephen Mulhern will front The National Lottery results as the draws make their television comeback.

The results were traditionally broadcast on BBC up until a 2017 move to BBC iPlayer but it is rival broadcaster ITV who now own the rights to the lucky numbers draws.

The new format will see the results delivered in a prime-time television slot, starting this Saturday with a 90-second slot during a Britain’s Got Talent advert break.

Mulhern, who was revealed as host in a teaser clip by Camelot, said [via Digital Spy]: “The National Lottery is an iconic institution and I’m hugely excited to be part of its return to primetime Saturday night TV.

“When you think about The National Lottery you think of people winning life-changing prizes.

"But sometimes you forget that players raise around £30 million every week for Good Causes across the UK.

“I feel privileged to be bringing those lucky numbers to the nation but also being able to show players how the money they’ve helped raise has made a difference to communities across the UK.”

Hayley Stringfellow, Head of Brand Marketing at Camelot, added: “We’re hugely excited by this innovative commercial partnership.

“One the outcomes of our recent strategic review was to make The National Lottery and its purpose far more relevant and visible – so what better way to do this than by partnering with ITV to deliver the results during some of the most popular primetime shows.”

The news of the 41-year-old’s new gig comes days after it was confirmed that his Saturday Night Takeaway segment In For A Penny has been commissioned for a full series.
