The Jump is about to kick off for another series on Channel 4 – and despite last year’s countless injuries, two of the celebrity participants brushed off any worries about getting hurt.

In an interview with ITV's Good Morning Britain, Big Brother winner Josie Gibson and Olympian Louis Smith seemed confident about taking on the ski-jumping contest.

While Gibson admitted to Susannah Reid she’d “never even looked at a pair of skis” before joining the show, she seemed casual about the prospect of being injured.

“Well Susannah, I done a combat roll over my sofa at home and broke my wrist – am I never going to sit on my sofa again?” she joked.

“I’d rather be out here and doing something extreme than in my front living room.

“You do worry about the injuries but it’s an extreme sport! I’m having the time of my life, it’s the best experience ever.”

Smith said that he had spoken to Beth Tweddle, who last year had to have spinal surgery following a serious injury she had on the slopes. However, she didn’t try to put him off.

“I was asking her for advice on the skeleton, because that was her strongest event,” Smith explained.

“She gave me some tips on that, and said just go out and have a great time. She knows I’m a bit crazy anyway, so she knew I was going to enjoy it.”

Gibson did admit that the largest ski jump on the set is pretty intimidating.

“I’m still waiting to get signed off on the big [jump],” she told Reid and co-presenter Ben Shephard.

“It terrified me at first, because you don’t realise how big it is! You’ve got to get an elevator up to the jump. It’s massive! It’s like a block of flats.”

The Jump returns to Channel 4 on Sunday, February 5.
