While it doesn’t have the same must-see appeal as the main show, The Great Sport Relief Bake Off has provided a much-needed fix for fans of Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood in the wait for the next full Bake Off series.

Make the most of it though – this is the final episode of the charity mini-series, in aid of the BBC’s Sport Relief event.

This time there’s Pop Idol winner Will Young, The Young Ones star Ade Edmondson, actress and comedian Morgana Robinson, and actress Alison Steadman, best known as Pam in Gavin and Stacey all hoping to impress the judges.

In the signature bake, the celebs are tasked with creating an ‘open-top’ pie, while the technical challenge is a salmon roulade.

For the all-important showstopper, the contestants have to dig deep and recreate a “momentous life experience” in the medium of, erm, cupcakes.

It sounds like things don’t go too smoothly for one of the celebrities – speaking to Jo Whiley on Radio 2, Will Young admitted: “I am the worst baker you have ever seen. I almost poisoned Mary Berry! You’ll just have to wait and find out.”

Sounds like it’s time to get the more savvy bakers back in the kitchen, Mary bring on the main summer series.
