Amazon Prime has released the first pictures of forthcoming motoring show The Grand Tour.

After months of speculation and a reported budget of £4.5 million, fans have been treated to a first glimpse of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May on set.

Released on Sunday evening, the new snaps show the presenting trio in action for the first time ahead of the show’s air date this autumn.

In the images, the former Top Gear stars can be seen recording their first studio scenes on location in Johannesburg.

Surrounded by a studio audience, which was always a big part of their BBC show, the hosts chat all things motoring in a pop up studio tent.

Rather than being broadcast from the same place, the studio will move each week to a different location around the world.

Speaking about shooting the first episodes, Clarkson told The Sun: “We’ve done it hundreds of times. It should be easy. I should be relaxed.

“But tomorrow, in a field just outside Johannesburg, James May, Richard Hammond and I will record the first studio segment for our new show, the Grand Tour.

“And I don’t mind telling you. I’m c******* myself.”

The first look at the eagerly-anticipated new show comes just a few weeks after Chris Evans announced his departure from Top Gear.

After flagging ratings and mixed reviews, the Radio 2 DJ decided to step down after just one series, with Matt LeBlanc expected to take over as main host in 2017.
