There was barely a moment in the children’s birthday party episode of The Apprentice that wasn’t excruciatingly awkward, but one mishap in the boardroom topped the lot.

The etiquette error came from business hopeful Charleine Wain, who seemed a bit too keen to scarper from the boardroom when it seemed her chances of being fired were slimmed.

Asked to pick two candidates who would return to the boardroom with him, team leader Gary took a while to decide whether he would return with Charleine or Joseph Valente.

After Gary finally decided on Joseph, Charleine thought that the coast was clear and stood up to exit the boardroom, saying “good luck boys”.

Clearly, Lord Sugar wasn’t best pleased about the situation.

“Where are you going?” he asked Charleine as she began to leave.

“Oh, do I not- oh, sorry,” she apologised before sitting back down.

Sadly, it was enough to put her back in the literal firing line, as Lord Sugar then decided that all four candidates should return to the boardroom.

“I don’t mean to override your decision, but I think there’s so much going on here that I’m going to make an unprecedented move, and that is this […] I want all four of you to come back in here.”

There’s your lesson: never leave the boardroom until you get the OK from the boss.
