Netflix has reminded viewers that Ted Bundy is a serial killer after some started swooning over the murderer.

Viewers described Bundy as “hot” and “attractive” after the streaming giant dropped new series Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes last week.

The series delves into the mind of one of the world’s most notorious serial killers, but some are getting distracted by Bundy’s appearance.

“Such a waste of a baby daddy #tedbundy,” wrote one viewer.

Another tweeted: “I know he’s a murderer but we can say Ted Bundy is hot right? I mean Efron is going to play him. Feel like that’s OK.”

A third wrote: “Low key I think #TedBundy is hot, don’t @ me.”

Netflix stepped in, telling viewers the streaming platform houses plenty of attractive men who haven’t committed crimes.

A tweet read: “I’ve seen a lot of talk about Ted Bundy’s alleged hotness and would like to gently remind everyone that there are literally THOUSANDS of hot men on the service — almost all of whom are not convicted serial murderers.”

Many agreed, with one claiming comments on his appearance are “horrifying”.

“The amount of women on Twitter discussing how ‘hot’ Ted Bundy was is gross, staggering, and horrifying,” tweeted one.

Another posted: “After finishing The Ted Bundy Tapes and then going down a Twitter rabbit hole with #TedBundy tags, it is grossly obvious how much people romanticise such a horrid, rotten man. ‘He’s hot tho’ – no, he was charming... Hence the psychopath thing. Don't be gross.”

The tweets come days after Penn Badgley begged viewers to stop romanticising his murdering alter-ego in You. The Gossip Girl star plays stalker Joe Goldberg in the Netflix thriller who builds up a tally of killings over his obsession with student Beck.

The Ted Bundy Tapes is told in Bundy’s own words during his time on death row at Florida State Prison. He was executed by electrocution, aged 42, on January 24, 1989.

Zac Efron will play the killer in upcoming film Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile.
