Laura Whitmore will be swapping the Australian jungle for the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom later this year.

The former presenter of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here… Now! has been confirmed as the latest contestant for this year’s dance competition.

“It's an incredible show and I feel so honoured to be asked to be part of it,” she said. “I'm not going to lie, I'm slightly petrified too!”

Whitmore was formerly a video journalist for MTV, and says she has a sincere love of soul and motown music.

“Anyone who has ever met me knows this,” she said. “I just love the endorphins it releases and it ties in to my love of music.

“I am a bit of a silly dancer so I’m looking forward to a bit of discipline.”

Whitmore will be joining Pop Idol winner Will Young and former Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls on the show, which returns to BBC One this autumn.
