As royal wedding fever swept the nation, many viewers were left with the age old question – ITV or BBC?

With both stations offering wall-to-wall coverage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s big day, viewers flooded social media with the same quandary, many putting their decision down to presenters.

Public broadcaster BBC chose The X Factor host Dermot O’Leary to join Kirsty Young and Huw Edwards in Windsor for the big day while ITV coverage was fronted by Phillip Schofield and Julie Etchingham.

Both stations had extra reporters stationed around Windsor as the happy couple prepared for their special moment.

Many were faced with the same dilemma:

Some were big fans of Phillip Schofield, having been parted from This Morning co-host Holly Willoughby for the day:

While some gave their hearts to reigning Strictly Come Dancing champion Ore Oduba (who just happened to be celebrating his own wedding anniversary) as a roving reporter on the BBC.

Oduba shared a sweet tribute to his wife Portia before setting off, writing: "TOTALLY hanging on the #RoyalWedding coattails... But truth is since May 19th 2011, I’ve been the luckiest sod alive with this one as my best friend and better half. Love you more than ever, happy 7th anniversary."

Others were turning their full attention to Kay Burley on Sky News.

Fans praised the well-known journalist after she chatted to children in the crowd, ready to be part of the big day, and even checked they had their suncream on .

And Dermot O'Leary was getting a lot of love in the special constructed BBC studio:

Many admitted they were flicking back and forth through the channels to capture every minute of the day.

Official Royal Wedding coverage began on BBC One at 9am on Saturday and run until 2pm. Highlights will be on BBC Two later in the day, at 7pm until 8.30pm.

The broadcaster has waived the licence fee for Royal wedding screening, so you don’t need to have paid dues to watch the wedding, including at street gatherings.

Meanwhile, ITV and Sky News are broadcasting until 3pm.
